MOVIE:  Children of Men

NUTSHELL:  In 2027 Britain, amid civil war, Clive Owen tries to take the only pregnant woman on earth to safety.

GOOD THINGS:  Clive Owen, Alfonso Cuaron’s direction, wowee zowee camera moves, Julianne Moore, Pam Ferris with cornrows, loads of cutie pie pets

BAD THINGS:  Bleak view of the world in the very near future

FEATURES:  Michael Caine, Claire-Hope Ashitey, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danny Huston, Charlie Hunnam as Mr. Supahbad, suicide kits

UNCOMFORTABLE MOMENTS:  Caged foreigners, Pam Ferris’s beat down

NOTABLE:  Alfonso Cuaron’s sensibilities mirror mine to a T. Clive Owen covered in kittens running through futuristic London? ALFONSO, I LOVE YOU!

BEST PART:  Scene acknowledging that Clive Owen is a catnip toy and may be utilized thusly

BEST LINE:  That’s your ear cells dying. You’ll never be able to hear that frequency again. Enjoy it while you can.

CROWNS:  5 out of 5
