Scooby Doo

MOVIE:  Scooby Doo

NUTSHELL:  Cutesy, poppy live action cartoon that thankfully has tongue firmly in cheek.

GOOD THINGS:  Barely there but still funny drug jokes, Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini, witty script that alternately mocks and builds on the original TV series

BAD THINGS:  The plot seemed to lap itself at one point.

FEATURES:  Voodoo, college revelers, orange sweaters, purple wardrobe, neckerchiefs, a whole lot of busty extras, Rowan Atkinson, Isla Fisher, Old Man Smithers and Miguel A. Núñez Jr. as Voodoo Man

UNCOMFORTABLE MOMENTS:  Hyper-extended flatulence gags are just not my fave.

NOTABLE:  Matthew Lillard didn’t bug the shit out of me for the first time. Who knew?

BEST PART:  Sue me but I’m a sucker for a Scrappy Doo joke.

BEST LINE:  “Here’s a clue. Purple’s a fall color. It’s the middle of May!” or “Let’s Get Jinky with it!”

CROWNS:  4 out of 5
