MOVIE:  Lift

NUTSHELL:  A world class shoplifter tries to avoid getting involved with gangsters while seeking maternal approval.

GOOD THINGS:  Great cast and original script about boosters who lift high-end items avoids cliches and tells a funny, touching and hip story in Philadelphia.

BAD THINGS:  Characters are so well written that when things go bad for them, you feel it too.

FEATURES:  Kerry Washington, Lonette McKee, Eugene Byrd, Todd Williams, Samantha Brown, Sticky Fingaz, Barbara Montgomery, enough designer namedropping to make me woozy

UNCOMFORTABLE MOMENTS:  The mother is pretty icky in parts.  Also, gangsters suck.

NOTABLE:  Executive produced by the lovely and talented James Mangold and Cathy Konrad.

BEST PART:  The boosting scenes are fascinating and compelling.

BEST LINE:  Don’t get mad at me because your tits are jelly.

CROWNS:  5 out of 5
