MOVIE: Dream Girls
NUTSHELL: A girl group in 60’s Detroit rises to fame, fortune and dysfunction. Personal drama and power ballads ensue.
GOOD THINGS: Beyonce, Eddie Murphy, Keith Robinson, Danny Glover, Jennifer Hudson’s singing, great costumes and production design
BAD THINGS: I was confused about who was supposed to be sympathetic at times.
FEATURES: Anika Noni Rose, Sharon Leal, Beyonce in an afro, Supremes parallels, Cadillacs
UNCOMFORTABLE MOMENTS: Eddie Murphy performing in front of the KKK in Boca.
NOTABLE: I didn’t feel the new songs fared well next to the original Broadway numbers.
BEST PART: The showstoppah thingy with Jennifer Hudson
BEST LINE: Help me out here, I’m frazzled.
CROWNS: 3 out of 5
